The term sisters as used in this painting refers less to kindred and consanguinity than it does to bloodlines, racial identity and Afrocentrism. During the time I spend on planet Earth, I do a lot of work on human relationships by sometimes engaging with strangers and understanding their belief and way of life. I have seen siblings (brothers/sisters) intervene in a fight that they know nothing about just to protect their love ones, but at the same time may hurt their other brother/sister that's not a kindred but the same race. But before I go further, the use of emojis in my paintings is a contemporary means which I developed to explain the recent kind of human conversations where people symbolize themselves online as emoji's and use it as a form of expression. In the present world, the are uses of emoji's in conversations, nowadays you find people using just emoji's to communicate and express feelings. There is almost an emoji for every kind of expression. It's a surrealistic and mannerist style of art that describes human relationships and everyday interactions. In this painting I use the emoji not just to express but to distinguish one set from another just like used in mathematics; subsets in a universal set. It is like a venn diagram showing 4 sisters racially, two of the same kindred and the other two of another kindred. The painting centers on UNITY amongst all. the need to be one, the need to love and stay happy, despite race, bloodline, kindred or whatsoever we think distinguishes us. Martin Luther King Jr said ; " We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”
