This artwork is created using high quality materials for permanence, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is signed on the reverse, professionally varnished for long-lasting protection, and is delivered ready-to-hang. “Ethiopian Slave”. At first glance the subject appears to be an elegant and proud tribal woman, however her stern appearance and the scars on her face betray the fact that she is in fact a slave. Based on an engraving from an encyclopedia published in 1875, the woman was being sold in Khartoum, a center of the slave trade in the Sudan region at the time. Jerry Saltz, the prominent New York art critic, wrote: "Leo, You are amazing! The piece is beautiful; we love having it", after acquiring one of Jahaan's artworks for his own collection. These timeless pieces from Leo Jahaan make a fantastic addition to any contemporary art collection.
