About The Artwork

Donaghadee Lighthouse and Harbour was painted on location in two sessions in the summer of 2021. It was a bright spectacularly sunny day in the 'Dee' with the lighthouse looking magnificent against the cobalt blue sky with its reflections on the sparkling sea. On the right of the painting you can see the RNLI lifeboat. I wanted to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the iconic Donaghadee Harbour in Northern Ireland since it is my second home town. Earlier in the year, I was at the harbour when Prince Charles unveiled a plaque at the lighthouse to commemorate the bicentennial of the Royal Charter of Donaghadee Harbour and the harbour’s foundation stone. For those of you who have seen the BBC police drama Hope Street the painting will be familiar to you. Although you may know the place by a different name Port Devine. Acrylic on board
