About The Artwork
Dissociatio is the first painting of three works that refer (not quite literally) to three stages of the alchemical process or psychologically to the process of the individuation, i.e. the becoming one's Self. Dissociatio (Latin "dissociation") is the moment when the old personality so to say "darkens", the purpose and direction in life get lost, a feeling of pointlessness dominates the situation, all previous reference points disappear... a kind of descending in the underworld. The other two stages (referred to in the other two paintings) are: 2. Integratio (Integration) and 3. In Statu Nascendi (Latin "in state of birth"). NOTE: This work is part of a triptych called 'Alchemy' and is not sold separately.
