oil on canvas (...) This painting was inspired by my stay on the island of La Gomera in 2013. The island belongs to the Canary Islands. It is surrounded by the blue ocean and there's oldest forest in the world which is extremely smells. Yellow is like flashes of light in high moss -covered trees . And reflections on the ocean. This island is one of the last paradises on earth. It's interesting because the colors that predominate in the picture symbolize hope, widths, freshness and success. Spaces are intricate but highly integrated, containing light, shadow and colour, concealing what is most hidden – the nucleus of vision. In the visions of Andrew Lichota we do not find any sign of the horizon, or any trace of topographic descriptiveness. But we feel a connection between the initiating sensation and the end result of the form-creating process. It's as though the painter has abstracted out of the landscape the elements of earth, rocks, water, air and heat, as well as cold, dryness and moisture, colours, lights and shadows, and then like an alchemist, has given them the transmutation treatment. And in this new form he has preserved, somewhere on at the quantum level, the original information. We read it, almost at a subliminal leve. The painting exhibited in the gallery Archetura in Krakow 2016, and published in the album of the exhibition.

Andrew Lichota (born 1972), art painter, sculptor, director. His artistic interests revolve around oil painting entrenched in the current of abstract expressionism, inspired by the artist`s authentic experiences. Landscape or its structural attributes and fragments, to be precise - as wellas meetings, places, and broadly defined reference to the archetype all constitute a significant element of his works. Lichota`s painting oeuvre often features light clashing with darkness with colour emerging as a result of that encounter. Wide impastos, the variety of tools used, resorting to means of artistic expression rooted in the art informel tradition, as well as large format contribute to the almost monumental effect exerted by the paintings. The artist`s travels gave rise to such series as Australia, Iran, La Gomera, and the latest one - Corrida.
