VIEW IN MY ROOM
This is a nocturne or night painting, created In November 2015 on location in Swansea in the early evening of Beaujolais Day which traditionally celebrates the arrival of the new harvest. The ferris wheel combined with the old museum and the many types of light and light effects caught my attention. I stood off the street at the top of stairs leading to an office building and painted the scene on my own invention - a bicycle easel. I painted the piece in my own studio prepared oils entertained by the music of a nearby Beaujolais Day party. Six of my paintings are shown on this website but have now been taken on by Art Gallery World so enquiries direct to them please via www.artworldltd.com The pieces concerned are Winter Wander, Gone Fishing Mevagissey, After the Storm Aberystwyth, Cefn Bryn apres Lucien Pissarro, Scotney Castle and Sky and finally Landimore View. Fine art trained at Falmouth School of Art and West Surrey College of Art and Design, constantly looking to better myself and produce to my highest possible standard. I entered the Foundation Diploma course having received the school prize for art and knew straight away painting would be my direction. Since living on the doorstep of Gower I have been concentrating on painting in the landscape. From near Falmouth, Cornwall originally, I regularly visit Cornwall, Devon, recently Norfolk and everywhere imbetween. To be freely roaming from dawn to dusk influenced me greatly. Since my earliest memory I have loved wild places, this is where I feel most at one. From the age of twelve I knew I wanted to be an artist. The moment my eyes closed at night I would see image after image flashing past my "eyes". I have undergone extreme challenges but my dream is now realised. My materials are studio-prepared oils, pigments mined and processed from Caves near South Wales and other suppliers - in children's workshops we source these naturally - and binding medium, egg tempera, oil pastels, watercolour and gouache, pastel pencils, charcoal and pencil. Larger pieces take months to complete and involve all sorts of surprising hazards. Adders, cattle, parachutists and of course the weather to name a few. I tutor art on a weekly basis from beginner to more advanced level. I started entering competitions this year and was awarded Highly Commended at Paint Out Wells-Next-The-Sea 2015 and was accepted into a heat of Sky Arts' Landscape Artist of the Year 2015, unforseen circumstances prevented my participation. Writing fiction, poetry, comedy, songwriting, foreign languages, walking and cycling also occupy me during rare moments when I am not painting, preparing materials or tutoring. My aim is to create forever.
