This painting is part of a series I made after taking in thousands of images from the Syrian refugee crisis. I imagined what it would take to send my own son out onto the water toward an unknown future. I thought about all the children and their loving parents. The painting asks many questions about the children. Are they both on the boat? Is one imagined? What does the future hold? I also imagine great hope for the future in this hypothetical dreamscape.
