About The Artwork

A one-off abstract acrylic artwork, with Certificate of Authenticity, copyrighted work, photographic prints available in different sizes and materials up to 16 x 48 inches. The painting is canvas over a stretcher, not framed, and is finished with a coating of low sheen varnish for surface protection. Please note international buyers, you may be asked to pay import duties, taxes and charges which are not included in the sale price. NOTE FOR PRINT BUYERS The painting is 16 ins. high by 48 ins. wide. Saatchi Art does not make prints these dimensions, therefore I have had to add white bars above and below the artwork in order to satisfy their standard print sizes (24x48 and lower). As a buyer you can either keep these white borders above and below the art or you can cut them off in order to end up with a photo of the painting only. A list of Saatchi Art print sizes and the resulting photo only size: 24x48 print produces a 16x48 photo; 20x40 print produces a 13x40 photo; 12x24 print produces a 8x24 photo. I would not suggest buying a 6x12 print which produces a 4x12 photo and in my opinion is too small.

My principal career has been as a furniture designer-maker; I have also studied and sold my fine art photography more recently. I still enjoy working with wood making furniture and decorative items, along with writing poetry, making fine art digital prints of my work, creating abstract acrylic art, making artists' books (handmade), designing and making tools and equipment for bookbinding and my wood workshop. I live a lot of the time in my house in southern France. In my painting, I navigate between intention and intuition, excited at the unfolding images of colours and mobile shapes on the canvas. Marks made are inherently abstract in nature, yet result in imagery which is invariably evocative of real world and/or other-worldly scenarios. I revel in the immersive, always new, experience of creating this artwork, visually exciting and oftentimes unexpectedly enriching. In my photography, I look for a similar experience, letting shapes and colours, in nature, in my house, in any situation, catch my eye and be the stimulus to want to capture the experience photographically and create a permanent reminder in the form of the photographic print. To find a constant excitement and reward in this creative process, with whichever medium, is both gratifying and humbling.
