About The Artwork
Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) Everybody needs a hobby, even artists, and mine is collecting skulls. I generally paint outdoors so New England winters trap me inside with no ventilation for the turpentine fumes. Last winter I began to paint in watercolors in self defense and my skulls seemed like a good subject. They don't take long, I'm generally happy with the results (you won't see anything posted here that I was not aesthetically pleased with myself), they're a good outlet for my drawing needs too, and I'm happy to sell them for cheap money, then do some more. Plus, I use the proceeds to buy more skulls! This small American alligator preparation is the first in the series and not technically a skull per se. You can buy similar mounts at any roadside souvenir shop in Florida.
