Broken Easel are a pair of sculptures in the Up-Cycled series. This is Broken Easel 2.

As the name suggests, this sculpture was inspired by a broken easel in Samuel's studio.

Combining the easel, clay and foam inside an old drawer finished with black acrylic paint and varnish, Samuel has created an unusually beautiful and dark sculpture.

This sculpture draws influence from Samuel's favourite artist Louise Nevelson, choosing to use a single colour to highlight the texture within this intricate piece.

Samuel is also against the throwaway society we live in, and wanted to create something beautiful using what he had, rather then sending these materials to the land fill.

Both Broken Easel sculptures are designed to hang on a wall, with brass fixings and wire fastened to the back of the drawer.

Samuel Deacon is a young talent from the United Kingdom whose paintings have been featured in solo and group shows nationally. Samuel is a full time artist and a graduate of Interior Architecture who developed his painting style in abstract work full of bold color palettes and layers of texture. Using primarily acrylics with clay and plaster, he is inspired by themes of nature and emotion which he then transforms onto the canvas as energetic pieces of art.
