About The Artwork
This was shot in the desert in the middle of the summer. It was an unbearable 111 degrees. The model nearly passed out on one occasion and at times I felt like I was too. I was certain that on that day that I wouldn't be able to get any decent shots. We took several breaks throughout the day. The next day during editing I was so pleased to find the I had gotten several shots that I loved. This was by far my favorite. The image ,for me, evokes a serenity and a vulnerability that this past year has brought to the surface for a lot of people. With so many people being isolated and confined to their houses or apartments because of COVID it has definitely been a period of time where we have had to be with alone with ourselves and families which can bring up a lot of stuff. Even if you are blessed enough to have family around that doesn't mean that this hasn't been hard or isolating or make you feel vulnerable. But like the woman in this image there can be beauty in this difficult time.

After over a decade as an art director, I started to evaluate what was important to me. About the same time I had this gut feeling to buy a camera. I've always been "creative" but I never considered myself an artist and I certainly never thought that I would be a photographer. I bought that first camera and it started me on an amazing journey of creativity and discovery. I quit my job as an art director and went back to school to learn as much about photography as I could. Now I am a full time photographer. What you see on this site are my personal projects. Some of these photographs are studies of light of the female form in the studio. Some in open space out in nature with available light. But all are a mirror in to who we are as humans. Whatever the setting, hopefully my images are a reflection of the beauty and the mystery of life.
