About The Artwork
I was in France in September last year and the light was very strong with a brilliant clear blue sky and a perfect angle for the sun to create beautiful and intriguing shadows on surfaces. I hadn't really been aware of the photographic potential of these shadows until then. The perfect instances, for me, were quite rare and so far I have only four images I'm truly happy with. Paper size (A1) 84.1cm wide x 59.4cm high. Image size 79cm wide x 52.6cm high. Printed on Hahnemuhle German Etching 310gsm paper using Ultrachrome HDR archival inks. Signed, Numbered and dated on verso. Certificate of Authenticity included.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
