I had walked beyond this scene, but must have registered it subconsciously as worth a second look, so turned back. The early evening golden sunlight was coming straight through the Nursery gate and made the yellow paint glow with warmth and the shadows of the letters just completed it for me. When I glanced down, everything I had on was bathed in very strong reflected yellow light.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
