Close up of sparrow detail
This painting is in response to my wondering why there were so few sparrows around as opposed to when I was young and they were everywhere. The artwork incorporates my old illustrative style combined with my present more abstract approach. The sparrow is based on an old watercolour sketch I made around 30 years ago when I made many studies of birds of the UK and worldwide. Materials used are acrylic paint on quality deep edge canvas. colours include: blue, teale, brown, cream and white.

Born St. Helens in Merseyside, England in 1966.Now based in Bury, Lancashire. My images invite viewers to share boundless pictorial spaces inspired by nature and humanity. The compositions draw emotions and feelings alongside themes of birth/death, creation/destruction, regeneration and constantly changing structures such as fire and the universe. My work is heavily influenced by the effects of light, from a cosmic Big-Bang to the glow of a desert city in the last throes of a scorching sunset. Communicating through suggestive rather than representational pictures with colour as the central force of the creative process and charging my work with symbolic meaning I attempt to give the paintings a physical presence that is both abstract and referential. Barry has work in collections throughout the UK and Worldwide including work in the Saudi Royal Palace and the Yellowstone Club in Montana USA.
