About The Artwork
This is one of a pair of abstract paintings I worked on in a couple of weeks in December 2016 : one being predominantly blue - 'Under Current' and the other red; titled 'Scarab'. My painting, 'Under Current' has reference in a river or brook where there's a gentle flow of water moving the reeds and rushes. Marks and dripping loose paint give interest and texture.

Born 1965,Northampton, UK. I am currently painting and drawing from my studio in an old shoe factory in my home town of Northampton. 1988 - I graduated with a BA (hons) in Fashion and Textiles with Business . My work experience as a textile designer includes London-based fashion and furnishing studios and the contemporary interiors company; Designers Guild. During my training as a textile designer, I developed my own style of painting, printing and drawing. Paint has always been my medium of choice. Oils are particularly preferential, as they enable me to create areas of surface texture or depth by layering and adding mediums for flow.
