About The Artwork
This work belongs to a new series that expresses the work of line and gestural movement of the color black as delimiter and main actor of the composition. I wanted to take a very free stroke with black gesso on the canvas prepared with a very diluted solution of white gesso to give greater luminosity and contrast and I added diluted liquid watercolor and it gave me a very bright pink color that I liked the luminosity it causes. It is a very visceral and expressionist work that tries to convey the sensation of surfing inside a large wave that radiates a pink light. https://annabelandrews.eu/online-exhibition/

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940 now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour, light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
