Sunshower Painting

Paula is a Canadian artist specializing in abstract painting and handmade jewelry. She has taken a variety of courses in many art disciplines including drawing, painting, clay, glassblowing and metalsmithing. Paula is inspired by both the urban and natural world and the little moments within them; the squeak of thin ice the second before it shatters, the dusty smell of fresh rain on the pavement or the first blissful sip of coffee on a cool, quiet morning. Her paintings aim to capture these little soulful moments of day-to-day life. Paula starts her painting intuitively with expressive marks and splashes of colour capturing the emotion of a moment. The results are raw and beautiful. She then begins making decisions on contrast, tone and overall composition being mindful of preserving the original soulful energy. Her resulting works are vibrant and emotional.
