Subtle Body II Painting

This piece is part of a larger exploration into the portrayal of the "subtle body". As a yoga teacher, I try to bring people closer to their intuitive self through physical and mental practices that call forth body wisdom, the innate knowing within each of our bodies. The subtle body emerges when the mind stills, the being listens. Watercolor, with it ethereal properties, evokes this subliminal space, while nevertheless allowing me to explore the anatomical lines and gestures of the physical form. The work itself is on a slightly smaller piece of heavy Arches watercolor paper. The mat is 11x14.
