About The Artwork

This painting was made with oils on canvas. This is a mixture of abstract, expressionism, realism, and surrealism. I took this photo from a period of my life, when I was studying ballet, making and creating art and music, and pursuing a career in the arts. I produced 12 music video/films with huge casts of dancers, performers, and with no company to back me. When I sent out product to most of the major record labels, I was called consistently to go in and meet with the biggest music moguls of all time, meet with A&R executives, because they liked all my art had to offer (or so I thought). During this period though, every business meeting was filled with humiliation and despair; all the executives I met with were vile, cruel, sadistic, and male. Instead of offering me a business deal, they started to speak cruelly by trying to humiliate me instead; instead of praising my diligent and hard work, they ignored my work and instead focused on harsh spoken words, trying to instead turn me into either a mistress or a sexual slave and in an extremely repulsive manner. If I had been male, those same executives would have immediately spoke of contracts, marketing, negotiation, and future value or worth. I had to look at this period in my life, to resolve those issues and try to make sense of my life as it was and is today. I had to also make a conscious decision to never allow myself into those sorts of unwarranted situations again and to make a conscious effort to stay clear of valueless people or people who have no value for the artist and the work involved. The red in my art speaks of my passion for my art and the process of my artistic expression. The colors relay the beauty of our natural environment for all these colors are contained within our environment, yet depending on how you use those colors, they may appear abstract or naturalistic. During the creation of this painting and afterwards I had to understand that I was not responsible for the cruelty and underhanded methods of misogynists what so ever. I have nothing to do with their personality conflicts and/or intolerable views about girls and women. I honor myself fully and my worth as an artist and those who think otherwise I consider ignorant and wasteful to my sense of responsibility towards myself and others.

Debbie Davidsohn won her first major award in high school when her art teacher entered her artwork in an International high school contest. She won for her drawing and self portrait. In the late 90s, LACMA invited her to display her wooden painted pieces art. She had created a line of faux finished designer wood pieces with intricate paintings on each one, all now either sold or given as gifts. Debbie also has created a multitude of designed art for the store, The Liberty Dog Store, the Serenity merchandise line, and constructed costumes and fashion designs for various rock & pop stars. Debbie is one of America's best kept secrets. She has been sung about by famous rock and pop stars for decades. She has been involved with the music industry, film industry, and also serviced three major US Presidents and their staffs. Very famous rock stars are in possession of some of her original works (not shown here) and she has a large history of multi-talent that spans a good portion of the artistic world on various levels; film, stage, music videos, stage backdrops, sculpture, music, choreography, dance, and musicianship. Some of her artwork was on display a number of times in LA, Lancaster Art gallery, The Crystal Cathedral in Hollywood, and through a large multitude of online venues. Debbie has also performed on stage, been chosen for National and International TV commercials, bit roles, stage plays, and is a multi winner from the Southern California Motion Picture Counsel. In college she was awarded with High Honors, achievement plaques and a special award for 'Hometown Humanitarian' award for her services to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan during America's crisis.
