About The Artwork
I have always been attracted to flowers and representing them as a subject, probably due to my textile design background. This is one of my latest floral still life paintings, where I explore working with oil on handmade paper. Here I have enjoyed the challenge of painting Roses and Chrysanthemums in a transparent glass vase. The paper I use is Khadi, handmade in Nepal, which I first coat in gesso.

Born 1965,Northampton, UK. I am currently painting and drawing from my studio in an old shoe factory in my home town of Northampton. 1988 - I graduated with a BA (hons) in Fashion and Textiles with Business . My work experience as a textile designer includes London-based fashion and furnishing studios and the contemporary interiors company; Designers Guild. During my training as a textile designer, I developed my own style of painting, printing and drawing. Paint has always been my medium of choice. Oils are particularly preferential, as they enable me to create areas of surface texture or depth by layering and adding mediums for flow.
