About The Artwork
This painting is rendered on a gallery wrapped canvas over hand built stretchers. It has a natural lattice wood frame. This piece is rendered in casein paint. The color is like the famous and irresistible, Yves Klein Blue. It has a matte read with an amazing soft quality that is almost like velvet to the eye. It is a milk based paint that's revered for its light absorbency and purity of pigment quality. My painting career has been based on the exploration of color and symbol forms in a series called New Village. This is a further continuation of those ideas culled from art history, street art, folk icons among many other inspirations. My work has exhibited in galleries and museums and is in prominent collections such as Estée Lauder, Twiter, NYU, Lambert International Airport among many others. Alicia LaChance is a full time painter based out of St. Louis, Missouri. She is represented by galleries across the Untied Sates. Recently, her painting, New Village, was reinterpreted as a 27' terrazzo floor public art installation at St. Louis International Airport. This work was also highlighted in the Wall Street Journal. Her paintings were selected by Julie Rodriguez Widholm, the Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, for the 2011 Midwest edition of New American Paintings. Most recently, she has been commissioned to create original artworks for Roman & Williams for a project at the CAA. The artist is proud to be working with a design team recently ranked by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 design firms in the world. Her artwork is in collections throughout the US and abroad.
