About The Artwork
"Portrait Study" was awarded First Prize at the 2015 OCAS Biennial at State Media, London This painting was the culmination of a long session having "warmed up" with the same model in the morning. Sometimes this is the best way to work - building on a wave that has taken several hours to grow. It's exciting and underlines the "life" in life drawing - the picture is as much about the time and place as it is about the appearance of the subject.
