Pink Landscape Painting

Abstract Expressionist paintings inspire me, but they are only a starting point. I don't have a complete image in my mind when I begin to paint - I go one step at a time, and try to let the composition speak to me, like a conversation. I use mostly large paint brushes, a palette knife, sometimes other textures from sponge or a fabric. i usually modify what I have painted over time, which is possible because I am using oil paint. I often measure parts of the composition carefully because I like to have precise balance of some shapes combined with a more free painterly style overall.
