About The Artwork
With my main studio in Catalonia I am always amazed at the vividness of the new green leaves in Spring when I return to England. This old oak tree near my studio in Hawkhurst was beside a field of young wheat, again a strong green. Most of my painting projects begin from ideas of colour, the simple duet of green & sky blue was an idea I wanted to explore. I started another painting of the same tree in July/August when the oak leaves are looking far less vivid and the field a golden yellow. I am still working on this Summer version a year later.
