Norway Fjord Landscape #3 Painting

I have recently returned from a trip to Norway. I went there because I wanted to see the Norwegian landscape which I heard is impressive. Even with that in mind I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this country. Since returning home I have been trying to capture something of what I saw and more importantly what felt when I was there. Certain parts of Norway seem so wild and unaffected by humans. The mountains loom large emerging from the clouds surrounding the deep impenetrable lakes, dark and mysterious. There is a kind of anxiety associated with what I saw, the powerful savage beauty that represents a kind of danger in itself and the fear that somehow with climate change this environment will be destroyed or altered beyond recognition. It is the fjords that haunt me and they are the subject of this series of paintings.This is the third painting in the Norway series, I will be posting more soon.
