About The Artwork

This painting is a continuation of the New Village series. Inspired by open source graphs - the idea of problem solving across boarders - freely. The colors and patterns are multicultural references from folk traditions to street art. The symbols, or semiotic forms, are meant to read like a global language or Esperanto. This piece is created on a gallery wrapped canvas over panel. The surface is prepared with a fresco secco. The painting is comes together through multiple layers. Some are scraped or sanded back giving a nice sense of archeology and "ghost" reads. I work hard to maintain a flatness to the application of paint hoping to give the overall painting a great sense of otherness. The New Village series has hung in three museums and been selected by multiple curators for a survey of contemporary painting. I work with private collectors and art advisors world wide.
