Moko is short for moko jumbie... spiritual guardians. This image shows the guardians watching over a fishing village, the fisherman and the fish in the sea/river...guarding way of life. I hope viewers will appreciate that many people worldwide depend on the sea and rivers for their food and living. It is a global responsibility to ensure there is food for all for this and future generations. I am a painter, photographer and film maker from Petit Goâve, Haïti, resident in Grenada, Caribbean. My abstract artworks explore Haitian identity, culture, history and tradition, and take the form of mixed media paintings on canvas and wood. I have been exhibited in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, United States, Switzerland, Romania, Spain, England, China, France, Trinidad and Grenada. I am proficient in French, Spanish and Haitian Creole. It is my pleasure to host regular youth art camps in my home village of Brigue, Haiti.
