Mayhem Painting

“Mayhem” was created using watercolours on paper. This is my first piece in the losing my marbles collection. What I love about this piece is how it reminds me of the Earth. 2020 has been such a complex year already. I wanted to convey that in this artwork. Not only with the colour scheme but also in the shapes and the fine lines weaving in and out of each other – It reminded me of the complexity of life, that 2020 has been so far, with its struggles and uncertainty. I called the piece mayhem for that exact reason; 2020 has been a chaotic mess of a year. It feels as though the whole world came to a standstill and nothing has really been accomplished. But in a way that standstill has made everyone stop and think about their lives and those around them which in a way is very beautiful. The world will always continue spinning, and contain beautiful elements that make this uncertainty less bleak and more bearable.
