Lady Pig Painting

I made the difficult decision to quit my corporate job with no plan. I turned to my art to let out my emotions and the original painting was a hyperrealism photo of a child with a lady bug on their face. The harder I tried the less it felt right. I gave up and said to myself “What is my art trying to convey to me?” The more I blended shadows the more the image of the pig came to be. I had originally chosen to create the rendition of the photo of the child because I felt that it represented my emotion at the time. I felt small, unsure, maybe a bit curious but lacking ambition. The lady bug meant good luck and new beginnings to me. The change after letting go and following what my intuition showed me made me realize and feel what my underlying emotions were. The pig holds a special place as a symbol of prosperity, good luck, and abundance. From the Chinese zodiac's Year of the Pig to European folklore associating pigs with wealth, this creature signifies a bountiful year ahead. To me, the pig represents freedom, a wealth of the validation and comfort my paintings bring to me. The colors also bring me a sense of calm and warmth. I hope someone sees this painting or my story behind it and can relate.
