This painting was inspired by my poem "Il Mondo", which reflects, through the pearl, the idea that, in the world of beauty, pain is also a power. The abstract image captures the duality of suffering and splendor; the central shape, which evokes an oyster, is a powerful symbol of this intersection. The oyster, a being that transforms an intrusive irritation into an iridescent pearl, becomes a metaphor for the transformation of painful experiences into something beautiful and valuable. The choice of colors, the contrast between earthy tones and deep blues, and the composition itself reflect this philosophy, inviting the viewer to consider how life's imperfections and challenges can give rise to unexpected beauty. The poem on the back of the painting called 'Il Mondo', I reproduce it here. ______ Il Mondo In the nights of my dens, madness took over my body. Still thirsty, it took the quill from her hands. The brevity of a friendship is as hard as the bones I bury today. Though the world spins, the movement is already too late. In the sudden precipitation of chaos, an embarrassment became order. It writhed in the mouth of our memories. It disturbed both sky and tongue. It killed a world, it birthed a pearl. In the constellation of beauty, pain is also power.
