Mixed media including solvent based marker, spray paint and collage on 200gsm Fabriano Accademia paper. Just as writers write about writing, painters paint about painting, because it's what we know, what we do, day in day out, when we are up for it, when we are not. It's just about doing. Amazingly I managed to miss the 'I" off the word INTEND, stupider still, I didn't even notice when I was doing the photos because I knew what I had meant to say. I don't understand why collage can even be a thing, it's just sticking bit's of stuff on other stuff, but it's hugely important to me. Maybe just to find a way into something.

b 1971 UK Self taught artist working with many mediums but liking paint the best. Painting is just a language that I am more comfortable with, it has an honesty, it is what it is. My work is very unprocessed, direct, I don't see as I paint , just look at it sometime later, then start again or leave it alone until another time. I work with layers, building them up and scraping back, finding stuff I had forgotten about, the painting starts to get interesting, to develop its own past. The word paintings write themselves with no restraint, if I'm not sure I keep writing over, but ultimately the words, however buried, have been said.
