Golden Dance Painting

This painting is a view atop a local hill, looking across the hills, inland, from the Spey River, Moray Firth coastal region of Scotland. The nearby Pine forest stands in shadow, as a heavy mask of clouds struggles for dominance in a sky lit by the setting sun. Painted alla prima, using acrylics and multiple brushes to maintain quick working, this painting was created in long sittings to keep a freshness and immediacy to the style. I have used acrylics as I prefer to work quickly. I hope the viewer will feel not only the recognition of the setting, but also the emotions I carried when creating the work. To feel the light in the same way you would feel music. In this regard I'm always influenced by jazz musicians such as Miles Davis or Colin Stetson. These Artists are able to harness an emotion and express it through sound, able to craft with their instruments in the way I wish to with my brushes and colour.
