Garland came about whilst sitting in my daughter's garden one Summer's afternoon. I had taken her a bunch of roses but they were such beautiful colours and smelt so sweet that I really wanted to capture something of them before I left. We tried photographing them in a bunch, then with their stems, all in a row, but always mindful that they were a gift and trying not to damage them. Nothing worked for me and so in the end I had the idea to just take the whole bunch back for myself and remove all the heads. It was my fear that had been holding the composition back. I had to buy her a new bunch of flowers but I learned that I needed to overcome my adult worrybrain and engage my child's playbrain and be brave in order to get what I knew in my heart I wanted. I hope you can feel the summer sunshine and smell the beautiful fragrance in these vibrant flowers and take your own step into the unknown. It will be rewarded. ‘Garland is also available as a giclee digital print and in A1 size.
