Its not secret that I adore coffee, (she types while taking a sip of coffee) and during one of my almost obsessional visits to the antique shops here in France I found this dusty 1950s French Bistro style coffee pot tucked away in a corner, and it came home with me (I mean how could I leave it there?). Once back at my studio I loved the way that the warm autumn afternoon light made the aluminum almost glow with subtle copper pinks and hazy blues. Reminding me of those quite late nights reading tucked in the cosy corner chair sipping my coffee... This piece is part of a series of still life paintings that I have been working on for the past 2 years, exploring the idea of how and why we become attached to objects. Painted in oil on archive quality board unframed with hanging hardware included.

Born in South Africa and currently living in France. I originally trained as an interior designer but changed tracks later in life when I was seduced by oil paint. I am fascinated by the emotional bonds that we have with decorative objects and interior spaces, becoming elevated when we capture these on film or art. I am self taught and work mainly in oil, influenced by the Dutch masters and contemporary Realist movement.
