Falling City Painting

I am Alexandru Opriș and I started my career as a chef in Cluj, Transylvania. My passion for visual art and painting has gradually developed, and now I live in Bucharest, Romania. Initially, cooking was my main profession, but it evolved into a strong passion. I am self-taught in art, drawing inspiration from old techniques and experimenting with various approaches. In my art, I rely on restoration and conservation in marouflage. I use oils, natural pigments, resin, traditional materials, wood, and old objects to bring symbols and chromatics to life. I explore the essence of form and artistic expression. Painting remains a mystery to me, offering me balance and satisfaction. Nutrition and connection with nature are fundamental to our well-being. Nicolae Grigorescu’s paintings take me back to childhood, evoking the simplicity of life and authentic wisdom. Cooking and painting are ways for me to support local values and remain authentic. Simplicity brings us closer to our essence and nature, and Brâncuși’s influence fuels my artistic exploration.
