About The Artwork

Dani is an unbelievably beautiful woman I met at 4 am in a club in Cape Town, South Africa. She had an undeniable beauty and energy that was contagious. I asked her in the noisy club if i could paint her and we exchanged details. A few months later she came to my studio and i took some photos, i told her to wear whatever outfit she is most comfortable in and most suits her character. She happened to wear an outfit with one of my favorite colors turquoise. In this painting i really wanted to paint it with the highest contrast and execute it with more of an old masters technique. I painted the blouse in more of a painterly way so as to give it more vibrancy and make a more sharp contrast between the smooth skin texture and the lace skirt. I added the humming bird later as i thought it needed a little more movement and punch of a different color.
