I am continuing my portrait series with a second painting. I am once again trying to capture an emotion, the overflowing joy of hearing the voice of a loved one on a speakerphone after having thought them gone - or maybe it is a sound that brings back fond memories. I am interested in the absence. Like the first portrait (see somewhere below), the emotion isn’t related to something they see, the trigger is either memory or other senses, and yet, the eyes are the most communicative part of the face, which is why they are so detailed compared to the rest of the painting.
