About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by a sunrise in North Carolina: A cabin in the forest. Reinterpreting what I observed, I made the trees lean gently toward the sun and a little wonky; nothing is perfect in Nature! True to my style, I added colors that were not actually there. The left foreground tree is intentionally bright blue to balance the vivid the sky. The blue is also a complimentary color that enhances the brightness of the warm oranges. It is a technique used by Impressionist painters like Monet. The paint was applied with a palette knife. This creates bold areas of color and texture.
