About The Artwork
This work is a nod to my quick and furtive drawing work in the cafes of Madrid, which I started in drawing notebooks in the 70s and 80s of the last century. In this case I integrated it into a canvas and put several invented faces together (not copied) and that made a composition with a row of faces with their eyes at the same height, making like a row of eyes, noses, and mouths. It is a relaxed and a bit joking work, which I wanted to work with a drawing style as if it were a marker to define the lines, but in reality it was acrylic with a mixture of lines with a dry tip dipped in acrylic and a brush more thick to give shape and volume to the figures and then I integrated the color into the faces.

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940 now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour, light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
