This painting was made in several layers, using various techniques. The silver & burgundy effect is created with spray paints over water and then removing parts to create the form and textures. The rest is acrylic and a little pastel for details. It's inspiration comes from the great energy and different light waves produce as they crash in the sea or waterfall.

Jouke Schwarz is a multi-talented artist, making paintings, animations and installations of all sorts. Born 1984 in England to Scottish Dutch parents, Jouke Schwarz was raised in Chile in Latin America. After finishing high school in Santiago he headed north to La Serena to study oil painting under the tuition of Paz Alvial. He then moved to the Netherlands where he studied Audiovisual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, graduating in 2011. Still based in Amsterdam, he is a full-time musician and artist. Finding his inspiration in nature and landscape, he paints mainly abstracts that constantly question time, space, the meaning of contour, absences and traces.
