Behind the pier Painting

My portraits convey a connection and sensitivity to a place ,using the traditionally feminine language of thread to make marks over the traditionally male language of architecture. This piece portrays the buildings fronting the Victorian Pier at the seaside town of Penarth in South Wales. Disliked by some locals, the orange building featured makes a strong impression on the landscape around it. I have abstracted some of the patterns in the street including the zebra crossing and the street lights, softening the space and giving it a more earthy and human tone. The piece is framed in a white board mount and cream frame which suits the mellow colour scheme of the painting. It’s fitted with mirror clips ready to go up on the wall.
