This is a rather large piece, measuring five feet by four feet (1.52 x 1.22 m), executed using pigments in acrylic, urethane and wax mediums on heavy weight linen. It is finished under glossy urethane, giving the piece a glass-like surface, which makes it difficult to fully appreciate the piece in a photograph - the three-dimensional depth created by the suspended pigments in the completely transparent urethane medium needs to be experienced in person. As you approach the piece, there is a certain nervous expectation - it is as if upon contact the surface tension would give way to a flood of luscious warm color. "Aseileron" is one of the early pieces in the Constelaria Series, a series that now approaches three dozen works. The first pieces came about slowly, years between each of them, all sharing a common energy and rhythm, a combination of Jackson Pollock drips, Paul Jenkins puddles and Georges Seurat dots. The first Constelaria painting, same size as this one, came about in 1995, and it became the cover for my first CD release "Pet Anxieties" by improvisational progressive rock group "Gazeuse" It was only recently that I came upon Miro's Constellations, and I completely share and understand in his fascination with the Universe, the essence of creative energy. For me, it has proven to be a fertile ground for continued exploration, as I executed many of the works in this series in the last couple of years, and have full intention of continuing!

Alejandro’s work celebrates the creative spark, and acknowledges that there is control in the uncontrollable, harnessing evaporation and the peculiar characteristics of the materials employed to fix what words cannot express. Born and raised in Colombia, Alejandro came to the United States at 14, and now resides in Buffalo, NY. His interest in paint started at a very early age, exploring the behavior of the oil cans and paints stored in the car port of the building where he lived. Complaints soon followed, which resulted in his having his first painting studio in the third floor balcony of the apartment building. The isolation of the pandemic has proven fruitful for the artist, who has had a prolific last couple of years. He views the current circumstances as “the universe is giving me an opportunity to catch-up.”. His latest series of works, using household latex on canvas, is an extension of the Luscious series. The biomorphic shapes in the Creatures series reflect the sometimes missing humanity in these troubled times. Recent sales include works from the Victoria, Latex, and Soulstice series of works.
