About The Artwork

"Acta Botanica, Figure 8. Cólchicum autumnále". Mixed technique on Canvas, 40x50cm. 2014 If a man should anoint his body therewithal, having first appeased the Maiden, the only-begotten, with sacrifice by night, surely that man could not be wounded by the stroke of bronze nor would he flinch from blazing fire; but for that day he would prove superior both in prowess and in might. It shot up first-born when the ravening eagle on the rugged flanks of Caucasus let drip to the earth the blood-like ichor of tortured Prometheus. And its flower appeared a cubit above ground in colour like the Corycian crocus, rising on twin stalks; but in the earth the root was like newly-cut flesh. The dark juice of it, like the sap of a mountain-oak, she had gathered in a Caspian shell to make the charm withal, when she had first bathed in seven ever-flowing streams, and had called seven times on Brimo, nurse of youth, night-wandering Brimo, of the underworld, queen among the dead,—in the gloom of night, clad in dusky garments.

Techtique I am inspired by early medieval painting with its simplicity and seeming unreality. I work using old techniques of Flemish painting, a system involving many transparent and translucent layers of paint, allowing for a sense of saturation, depth and a glow of light from within the picture. This creates an aura of mystery. At the same time, I try to include a contemporary element in my art, to reveal something new, to create portraits that are not merely images from long ago, but speak to us in the here and now. Lately I have been increasingly attracted to rich, colorful and positive pop art. Which is however very critical as a concept. Accessibility I believe that art should be accessible to everyone. That's why I take part in arts promotion events and exhibitions in the UK, where I lived after graduating, and in Germany. These experiences were the main motivation to open an art school for children and adults, first in Berlin and later in Bremen: Das Kunsthaus. Adele In my private life, I am married to an academic university teacher; we have three children. We moved to Bremen in 2020. I'm very inspired by this city: it's old and beautiful, free and harmonious. And I try every day to contribute to its beauty.
