Abstract Forms 2 is the second painting in the series, combining colourful oil and acrylic paints on canvas within a frame made from a recycled wooden palette.

This painting began as an up-cycling project. Samuel loves texture and could not throw away this wooden palette so he dis assembled it, sanded the roughest edges and turn the leftover into paintings.

Once the frame had been assembled and finished with wood primer and matt varnish, the canvas was stretched and had gesso applied to it. Then the layering process began, adding oils and acrylics together with brushes and knives.

The final product is a playful and exciting painting which celebrates texture and colour. Samuel chose not to fill the palettes screw holes and sand off the wood grain as he wanted to keep the rustic charm.

The painting has brass fixings and wire on the back for hanging and wooden splints to keep the painting flat on the wall, despite the palettes slight twist and bends.
