About The Artwork

The basic design of the concept derives from the public field. It’s about images in common visual use, cut off from the texts that identifies them, which are reshaped and placed to an empty background. What is not stated explicitly, although implied, leaves us confronting the wavering meanings.

I was always interested in the human condition. Through time I explored seemingly different but substantially uniform paths that express its imprint. Just like a child longing to touch all the toys on the toy store shelf, I wanted to investigate various means and techniques. Hide - Disclose In the early, mixed-media works, while watching my beloved, I attempt to iconize them unseparated from their surroundings. The pasting – detaching technique, while creating layer levels – holes at times and healed wounds at others - demonstrates an allegory for a Missing Self. In – Out Exploring style and material themes I was led to transparencies. Designed in an ostensible manner, the spectral figures obtained were created in order to contain the space they are placed in, positioned like sculptures. At the same time, due to the properties of light, they reflect their hybrid copies on new surfaces. Private – Public It was in my intentions to create works “open” to multiple readings. This way I rediscover the public image. In the contemporary scene, the Image is the universal language. How do we perceive it when it’s not supported by titles and texts that encode it? The series of works in pencil is the attempt to imprint this contemplation.
