About The Artwork

Iryna Vorona "Free", 2021, cardboard, acrylic, pen, 140/100 cm. The last year has left no one indifferent and few have managed to maintain their identity before and after the pandemic. I wanted to continue speaking through the canvas, but by such means as street art or literature. So, the pen and marker became my manifesto. By changing the handwriting in the work "Free", I make the word "Ukraine" clear to the viewer and vice versa, but it still remains the same word. It turns out that its visibility depends on personal vision. Ukraine's visibility to the international community is constantly changing, today we are seen, supported and understood, and tomorrow we will not be perceived. I was four years old when Ukraine gained independence, the struggle for which is still going on. Your name is Ukraine! When will you be free? When will the war end? The work "Free" was presented as part of a cultural and social project "YOUR NAMES, UKRAINE", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence at the Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art Korsakiv. Also included in the catalog, a collective monograph - How to become a "NAME", or a treatise on how to "buy a ticket to eternity" from the Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art Korsakiv. The painting is in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art Korsakiv.
