About The Artwork

"Beyond" is a thought-provoking pencil and watercolor portrait that delves into the profound concept of time and its profound effects on our perception of reality. At first glance, it presents a young woman, but upon closer examination, a striking and surreal duality is revealed. The artwork showcases a portrait with two superimposed exposures, creating a visual distortion that challenges our understanding of identity and time. Within this intriguing composition, we see not just one, but two mouths, two noses, and two pairs of eyes overlaid onto a single face. This juxtaposition evokes a sense of otherworldly mystery and challenges the conventional way we perceive the self and the world around us. "Beyond" serves as a powerful metaphor for how time can transform our understanding of reality. The dual set of facial features represents different temporal moments, with the superimposition highlighting the fluidity of our perception through time. Just as time molds and reshapes our experiences, the overlapping features symbolize how our perception of self and others can evolve over time. This artwork invites viewers to contemplate the multidimensional nature of time. The two pairs of eyes, noses, and mouths reveal the intricate interplay between past and present, memory and reality. It encourages us to acknowledge how time can alter our perspectives, leading us to see the same person or situation in entirely new and unexpected ways. "Beyond" challenges our understanding of the temporal dimension's impact on perception, reminding us that our experiences and the way we view the world are not static but are in a constant state of transformation, shaped by the ever-evolving currents of time. It beckons us to explore what lies "beyond" our initial perceptions, encouraging us to delve deeper into the complexities of time and identity.

Zoe Lunar radiates and works in Mexico City, is a graduate of the national school of painting, sculpture and engraving "La Esmeralda". He is an artist in constant formation, who seeks plastic, visual and sound experimentation. His work feeds on time as matter and how it helps to interpret reality, through temporal representations, of spaces that converge in their social context and how this influences the formation and interpretation of our different contemporary realities; making use of the qualities of painting and drawing to make deformations in a perceptive portrait of different moments, and personal times in a single interpretation. He is currently nurturing his plastic work especially in painting and drawing, giving him new outlets like AR in some of his new works and occasionally making music and video.
