Pully uses mechanical advantages to do work with less energy. The work is illustrative of the physics and mechanics of this world. The way the moon and the earth travel, their measures of each other and the radius of the sun all play into the work, though abstractly. The science of engineering often deals with the four elements of earth, air, water and fire. Newton was doing classical mechanics on the side while he was working in the alchemical arts of the 1600s. His text was from the ancient Greeks.
