Kitchen was the main place for me during this quarantine. All this constant cooking, dish washing and cleaning has found its visual association with kitchen yellow rubber gloves I used. I took them into my hands and I have got clear vision for the artwork and whole series idea. All the puzzle pieces of different events happened during pandemic period were gathered into the whole image concentrated in the symbol of yellow glove. The symbol of work home, stay home. Our symbol of protection which could also remind us of those medical workers who struggled to save someone’s lives. I have made a decision that it should be exposed in its pure form. I attached it with the tape on the wooden surface and glaze artwork with epoxy resin. Maurizio Cattelan with his Banana came to my mind after I finished my first work. I started Google his work and discovered that he was thinking about banana concept during a year before he came to the final idea. That banana needs to stay a banana. It was very funny that I hadn't so much time to think, maybe this pandemic had its controversial power which from one side is stagnagnation and from another to speed up some other things. The text in Estonian: "I have several time changed my profession. And everytime my life has begun from the scratch". "I had to obey the system to earn a for a living, working in different areas" I would like to mention wooden panel I used for painting. This wooden panel is very special, dates from the 1980s. It is covered by different types spots and prints that have formed and appeared during 40 years. It has taken a lot of time to collect these type of wooden panels especially for this project. This wooden panel have long history and it was used as drawing panel in Imperial Art academy of Saint Petersburg. Students stretched moisted paper and fixed it onto this panel. I have chosen them because I fell in love with its surface. You can see scratches and stains of various origins. The wooden surface retained the patina of time and archived various traces of frozen moments of life. It reminded me of the surface of the dining table, at which life routine happens every day: solving important problems, clarifying relations between family members, discussing future plans... each of these moments leaves an invisible mark in time.

I use a mix of techniques to create my paintings. I am interested in the aesthetics of hidden, undiscovered and often invisible matters. I consider/examine personal experience, feelings and involvement in the context of historical and social events in order to find opportunities for transformation and adaptation to new living conditions. I engage with social subjects such as power, stateless status, migrations, integration, assimilation, consumption, female issues and also rituals, traditions and the ghosts of the past, inhabiting and hacking our current state of affairs.
