Welded metal with powder coating, 19.68 H x 15.75 W x 7.08 in, 6.7 kg. 'Queen's purse' was made as a piece of my cycle entitled 'The Weight of Chains', first presented on a solo show at the Kolarac Gallery, Belgrade. The object was also exhibited at the multimedia show dealing with the shifting boundaries between fine and applied arts, where it was awarded with the third award. The introductory text for the exhibition catalogue outlines its major artistic intention: In my work, everyday objects have a particular significance in denoting collective and personal experiences. They are monumentalized by the choice of medium, finery of the execution, and the context of the display. In accord with its name Queen’s Purse has no purpose - it is an art object with diverse cultural implications. Already on the first display, however, Queen’s Purse was designated as a highly appealing fashion detail. Its deliberately refined craftsmanship, as well as the elegance of its form, undoubtedly recall the world of Haute Couture, which as a global fascination has also been implied in the sculpture’s original conception.

Usually, the place where I live at any given moment, with its daily routines, dictates the choice of my subject matter. As a rule, I am interested in the objects of everyday life, which appear to be surprisingly uniform wherever you go. In my work, they unite collective and personal experience. I never recycle real objects in a manner of an assemblage, but rather present my own associative, monumentalized interpretation of their form. I choose medium, mode of craftsmanship, both of which suggest underlying narrative context, but also provide monumental quality of architecture. My objects are reduced to a gallery format, but I see them as large-scale urban sculptures evocative of common human activities.
